Frequently asked questions

The short answers. If you need more, our team is one message away.

Getting started
Do I need an account to try the free tools?
No. You can take a free SAT diagnostic or practice test, or book a free trial session, without creating an account. We only ask for a name, email, and grade so we can send your results. You make an account when you decide to enroll or buy.
What ages and subjects do you cover?
We work with students from elementary through high school, plus undergraduate and adult learners. That spans core academics, SAT and PSAT prep, college counseling, and select graduate and professional exam prep. If you are not sure we cover your subject, just ask us.
Are sessions online or in person?
At launch, tutoring and courses are fully online so we can match you with the right tutor regardless of location. In-person options may follow later.
Plans and payments
What is the difference between self-paced and live courses?
Self-paced courses are subscriptions you work through on your own schedule, with the full question bank released to you over the plan. Live courses, like the 8-week SAT cohort, run on a set schedule with a tutor and a group, and are paid once (or in installments). Many families pair a self-paced subscription with 1:1 tutoring.
How do packages work?
Packages are blocks of 1:1 tutoring hours you buy up front, at a lower per-hour rate than single sessions. Hours sit in your account as credits and you book them whenever you like. See the step-by-step in our guide to buying a package.
Do I need a card on file to book?
Yes. A card on file keeps your classes running without interruption, so billing never gets in the way of a session and you do not have to think about it in the moment. You stay in full control and full view: every invoice and receipt lives on your account page with complete transparency. You also choose how billing works for your family, schedule and pay as you go, buy a preset package of hours up front, or set a spending cap so an older student can book their own sessions without any risk of surprise charges.
Can I cancel a subscription?
Yes, anytime. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, like a gym membership, so you keep access through the time you have already paid for. There is no partial-month refund for self-cancellation.
Do you offer refunds?
For most cases, cancelling at period end is how you stop future charges. Refunds are reserved for exceptional situations and are handled case by case by our team. If something has gone wrong, please reach out.
Scheduling and progress
How does scheduling work? Coming soon
In-app scheduling, with self-serve booking, rescheduling, and reminders, is rolling out soon. Until then, we set up your first sessions with you directly after you enroll.
Will I be able to see my student's progress?
Yes. Parents get a dashboard with sessions, materials, and progress in one place, plus a clear per-session report after each lesson covering what was worked on, where understanding stands, and what to practice next.
Privacy
How do you handle my family's data?
Privacy comes first. We go beyond what child protection laws require, and we use only anonymized student data to improve our tools. Your child's information stays your child's, always.
